Pakistan Day Celebrated in Paris with Flag Hoisting and Awards


Paris, The Embassy of Pakistan in Paris marked Pakistan Day with a flag hoisting ceremony that drew a large attendance from the Pakistani diaspora, diplomatic corps, media, and embassy officials. The event was highlighted by the reading of messages from Pakistan’s President, Prime Minister, and Foreign Minister, along with a special address by Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad.



According to Press Information Department, Ambassador Ahmad welcomed guests and reflected on the historical significance of March 23, 1940, as a pivotal moment in the Pakistan movement. He honored the determination and sacrifices of forefathers who envisioned a separate homeland, leading to the Lahore Resolution which set the direction for Pakistan’s independence in a remarkably short period. The Ambassador reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to supporting the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and Palestine in their struggle for self-determination and freedom, in line with United Nations Security Council Resolutions.



Furthermore, Ambassador Ahmad highlighted the robust friendship between Pakistan and France, emphasizing ongoing cooperation in various sectors including energy, IT, agriculture, and tourism. He praised the Pakistani community in France for their role in fostering strong bilateral ties and upholding the values of hard work and integrity as envisioned by Pakistan’s founding fathers.



The ceremony also featured cultural performances by Pakistani children and the bestowment of the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz on Ambassador Ahmad for his outstanding public service, an honor announced by the President of Pakistan on August 14, 2023. The day’s events served as a testament to the enduring spirit of the Pakistani community abroad and the deep-rooted connections between Pakistan and France.
