Islamabad: Pakistan Customs has confirmed that customs clearance operations at the Gabd-Rimdan border are fully operational, ensuring the continuous movement of essential commodities, particularly Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG).

According to Press Information Department, from June 1 to June 8, 2026, 748 Goods Declarations covering approximately 17,353 metric tons of LPG were processed and cleared through the border under the Collectorate of Customs Appraisement, Gwadar. This underscores the ongoing efficiency of LPG imports and customs operations.

To support the import of crucial commodities like LPG and bitumen, Pakistan Customs employs an expedited Green Channel clearance mechanism. This approach ensures swift clearance and a steady supply to domestic markets.

The Collectorate in Gwadar has implemented measures to streamline import clearance, enhance transparency, and strengthen compliance controls. These reforms target issues such as misdeclaration and unauthorized removal of goods while facilitating legitimate trade.

In line with Customs Rules 2001, importers must complete formalities like filing import manifests and submitting Goods Declarations. These procedures ensure transparency and regulatory compliance.

The revised clearance procedures followed consultations with the Quetta and Gwadar Chambers of Commerce. A one-month transition period was provided to the trading community for smooth implementation.

The impact is evident in customs revenue and trade activity. From April to June 2026, Pakistan Customs collected Rs. 12,071 million from 8,245 Goods Declarations, compared to Rs. 7,861 million from 6,909 Declarations in the previous year, indicating successful trade facilitation.

A small number of consignments, mainly iron and steel, were not cleared by traders unwilling to complete customs formalities. After discussions with Iranian Customs, around 65 consignments were allowed to return to Iran to avoid congestion.

Pakistan Customs is committed to facilitating lawful trade, protecting government revenue, and enforcing customs laws effectively. The organization continues to collaborate with stakeholders to enhance trade facilitation and support economic activity.
