Islamabad: Pakistan has issued a strong condemnation of threats from the Houthis militia against Saudi Arabia and commercial shipping operations in the Red Sea. The government highlighted that such actions pose a risk to regional security, impede freedom of navigation, and disrupt the flow of global commerce.

According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the threats directed at commercial vessels trading with Saudi Arabia violate international law. Pakistan expressed particular concern over reports of potential threats to vessels engaged in lawful trade with the Kingdom. The country affirmed that any hostile act against Pakistani-flagged vessels or maritime interests would be considered a serious threat to national security. Consistent with international law and the United Nations Charter, Pakistan reserves the right to employ necessary measures, including the lawful use of force, in self-defense to protect its maritime interests.

Moreover, Pakistan voiced its concern over efforts to involve Saudi Arabia in the Middle Eastern conflict, reiterating its support for the security and sovereignty of Saudi Arabia. While committed to dialogue and regional de-escalation, Pakistan urged all parties to uphold international law and ensure the safety of maritime shipping.
