Islamabad: Pakistan has voiced strong opposition to the ongoing closure of the historic Jamia Masjid in Srinagar, located in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), on the final Friday of Ramzan. The closure of the mosque on this significant day has been described as a breach of religious freedom and fundamental human rights.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Pakistani government has issued a statement highlighting that for seven consecutive years, since the events following August 5, 2019, the authorities have sealed the mosque, preventing Kashmiri Muslims from participating in congregational prayers. These actions have raised concerns over restrictions on religious practices, especially during the holy month of Ramzan.

The statement from Pakistan calls on the international community, including the United Nations and human rights organizations, to address the situation. It urges India to uphold the freedom to practice religion in the region, recognizing it as a fundamental human right.
