Tashkent: Pakistan, in its role as the current chair of the Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO-RATS), successfully led the 45th meeting of the Council in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The council focused on regional security issues and the submission of key documents for the upcoming Council of Heads of Member States meeting.

According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the council highlighted concerns over the Middle East’s developments, advocating for conflict resolution through dialogue and adherence to international law. The threat from terrorist groups in Afghanistan was also a major topic, with the council emphasizing enhanced cooperation to address these challenges.

The next SCO-RATS Council meeting is scheduled for September 2026 in Pakistan. Since its chairmanship began in September 2025, Pakistan has been active in steering the council towards regional cooperation against terrorism, holding various events on joint operations and security. As a frontline state, Pakistan remains committed to collaborating with global partners to advance efforts against terrorism, aligned with SCO principles and international law.
