Islamabad: Mr. Imtiaz Ali Solangi, a senior member of the Federal Board of Revenue, has retired after a 31-year career in government service. A special Board-in-Council meeting was convened to honor Mr. Solangi’s contributions to the Government of Pakistan and the Federal Board of Revenue.

According to Press Information Department, Mr. Solangi joined the Inland Revenue Service and built a career in tax administration, public policy, and financial management. His roles included Chief Commissioner of Inland Revenue in Karachi and Sargodha, Member of the Appellate Tribunal Inland Revenue in Karachi, and Commissioner of Inland Revenue in both Karachi and Islamabad.

Mr. Solangi’s academic background is extensive, including a Fulbright Scholarship and a Master’s degree in International Economics and Finance from Brandeis University, USA. He also holds degrees from institutions in Pakistan and participated in courses at Harvard Kennedy School, Korean Tax Policy Institute, and AIBO in Beijing.

His work impacted tax policy, anti-money laundering frameworks, and public sector reforms. He was involved in the Benami Transactions (Prohibition) Rules, 2019, and contributed to budget proposals and institutional reforms with World Bank support.

The FBR’s Chairman, Mr. Rashid Mahmood Langrial, and other board members acknowledged Mr. Solangi’s service and presented him with a commemorative shield at the meeting, wishing him success in his future endeavors.
