Islamabad: A western disturbance that entered Pakistan on March 24 is intensifying, bringing heavy rainfall, strong winds, and thunderstorms across the country. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) expects these conditions to persist until March 31. Authorities are on high alert due to potential flash floods in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces.
According to Relief Web, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued an advisory about another westerly wave expected to hit southwestern Balochistan on April 1, lasting until April 4. This system could lead to flash floods in northeastern Balochistan, D.G. Khan in Punjab, and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Landslides are also a concern in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Pakistan Administered Kashmir. Isolated hailstorms may occur in vulnerable areas, prompting the PMD to issue alerts advising authorities to remain vigilant.
