ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s proactive diplomacy in recent regional crises has bolstered its international standing, according to Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, Chairman Senate of Pakistan. Addressing the National Tourism Dialogue at the Pakistan Travel Mart (PTM) 2026, he highlighted Pakistan’s constructive role in global affairs and its contributions to regional peace and stability.
According to Senate of Pakistan, Gilani emphasized tourism’s potential to drive economic growth and enhance Pakistan’s global image. He praised Sardar Yasir Ilyas Khan, the Prime Minister’s National Coordinator for Tourism, for his efforts in organizing the dialogue and advancing the tourism agenda. The theme of PTM 2026, “Shaping the Future of Travel: Innovation, Sustainability, and Global Connectivity,” reflects the country’s alignment with emerging global tourism trends.
Gilani commended the public-private partnership model of PTM as a successful example of collaboration essential for fostering sustainable growth and investment in tourism. Highlighting Pakistan’s vast tourism potential, he noted the country’s unique blend of ancient civilizations, cultural diversity, and natural beauty, including historic sites like Mohenjo-daro and the Indus Valley Civilization.
Referring to his connection with Multan, Gilani underscored the spiritual significance of the “City of Saints” and the role of Sufi traditions in promoting peace and harmony. He described tourism as a powerful engine of economic development, contributing to foreign exchange earnings and infrastructure development.
PTM 2026 showcases investment-ready tourism projects, supported by the Special Investment Facilitation Council, reflecting Pakistan’s commitment to attracting investment. Gilani welcomed international delegates and representatives of global tourism organizations, noting the growing global confidence in Pakistan’s tourism potential.
Concluding, Gilani congratulated the organizers and participants of PTM 2026 and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting legislative and policy initiatives aimed at promoting tourism. Member Provincial Assembly Punjab, Syed Ali Haider Gillani, and Advisor to Chairman Senate, Ms. Misbah Khar, were also present at the event.
