Pakistan-Azerbaijan Strengthen Ties in High-Level Meeting


Baku: Chairman Senate Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, leading a parliamentary delegation to Azerbaijan, engaged in a significant meeting with President Ilham Heydar Oghlu Aliyev to discuss mutual interests, bilateral cooperation, and regional peace and stability.



According to a statement by Senate of Pakistan, Mr. Gilani emphasized the longstanding historical, cultural, and religious connections between Pakistan and Azerbaijan. He expressed a desire to further expand these relationships across various sectors for mutual benefit.



The Chairman Senate highlighted the importance of regular interactions between parliamentary leaders and noted that Pakistan and Azerbaijan have already signed a Memorandum of Understanding to enhance parliamentary cooperation. Friendship groups within both parliaments are actively contributing to the strengthening of bilateral ties.



Mr. Gilani also stressed the need for enhanced trade and economic relations, informing President Aliyev about the creation of a Special Investment Facilitation Council in Pakistan. This council aims to serve as a single-window platform for cooperation in fields such as agriculture, defense production, information technology, energy, and mining. He encouraged Azerbaijani companies to explore investment opportunities in Pakistan.



The Chairman acknowledged Azerbaijan’s efforts in arranging the APA plenary in Baku, noting the excellent organization.
