Pakistan Announces New Mechanism for Uninterrupted Fertilizer Supply to Farmers

Islamabad, In a move to stabilize the agricultural sector, Federal Minister for Food Security and Industries and Production, Rana Tanveer Hussain, announced a new mechanism designed to ensure a consistent supply of fertilizer to farmers. This development comes as part of a series of measures aimed at bolstering agricultural productivity in Pakistan.

According to Press Information Department, the mechanism involves the creation of a mobile application to monitor the distribution process from fertilizer manufacturers to dealers. The app is intended to enhance transparency and prevent hoarding and profiteering by regulating dealer activities more strictly. This initiative was discussed in a meeting with Punjab Minister for Agriculture Syed Aashiq Hussain Kirmani, emphasizing adherence to the Prime Minister’s directives for agricultural development.

The federal and provincial governments are set to oversee this new system, with strict legal actions planned against those found guilty of manipulating the market. Additionally, the government is taking steps to ensure the availability of gas for fertilizer production and is also increasing fertilizer imports to guarantee supply reliability.

This strategic approach reflects the government’s priority to support farmers and enhance the agricultural framework of the country, aiming at long-term prosperity for the sector and its stakeholders.
