Islamabad: Advisor to the Chairman Senate of Pakistan, Ms. Misbah Khar, met with the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of Uzbekistan, Mr. Sodyq Safoev Solihovich, in a bid to strengthen parliamentary ties and enhance regional cooperation between the two nations.
According to Senate of Pakistan, during the meeting, Ms. Khar conveyed greetings from Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to fostering friendly relations with Uzbekistan. She emphasized the shared historical, cultural, and spiritual ties between the countries and the role of parliamentary diplomacy in promoting regional understanding.
Both officials acknowledged the increasing momentum in bilateral relations following recent high-level exchanges. Discussions focused on expanding cooperation in areas such as trade, connectivity, education, information technology, agriculture, and cultural exchanges. The importance of regional integration initiatives, particularly connectivity between Central and South Asia, was also highlighted.
Ms. Khar expressed appreciation for Uzbekistan’s involvement in the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference and its role in promoting regional peace and dialogue. Both sides committed to continued engagement in forums like ECO, SCO, and OIC, expressing confidence that stronger parliamentary cooperation would enhance the longstanding friendship between Pakistan and Uzbekistan.
