Belgian Royals Honored at Reception in Islamabad Hosted by Pakistan Senate Chairman


Islamabad: Chairman Senate of Pakistan Yousaf Raza Gillani hosted a reception in Islamabad in honor of His Highness Prince Édouard de Ligne La Trémoïlle and Her Highness Princess Isabella Orsini de Ligne La Trémoïlle of the Belgian Royal Family during their visit to Pakistan. The event was attended by notable figures including Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Deputy Chairman Senate Syedal Khan Nasar, members of the National Assembly, diplomats, and other distinguished guests.



According to Senate of Pakistan, Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani expressed that the visit was a symbol of friendship, goodwill, and mutual respect between Pakistan and Belgium. He emphasized the importance of people-to-people contacts in building enduring relations and noted the significance of the visit in strengthening the message of friendship and goodwill. Gilani highlighted the cooperation between Pakistan and Belgium in various fields such as trade, education, and culture, and appreciated Belgium’s support under the GSP Plus framework.



The Chairman Senate also addressed global challenges and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to promoting peace and international harmony. As the founding Chairman of the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference, he expressed his desire to enhance parliamentary diplomacy between Pakistan and Belgium. Concluding his address, Gillani dedicated the evening to the enduring friendship between the two nations.



Prince Édouard de Ligne La Trémoïlle, in his address, thanked Chairman Senate for the reception and appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting global peace. He expressed hope that Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts would contribute to preventing global conflicts and promoting stability.
