Pakistan and UK Aim to Strengthen Bilateral Ties and Expand Economic Cooperation


Islamabad, In a series of strategic discussions in London, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar engaged with key British officials, including the UK Minister of State for South Asia and Commonwealth, Lord Tariq Ahmad, and the Minister of State for Development, Andrew Mitchell, to explore avenues for deepening bilateral relations. The meetings focused on enhancing trade and investment links, leveraging the British Pakistani diaspora, and resuming direct flights between the two nations.



According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, these discussions highlighted the potential for closer cooperation and the mutual interest in capitalizing on the British Pakistani diaspora’s capabilities to bolster economic and cultural ties. The dialogue also addressed the pressing issue of resuming Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flights to the UK, with both sides committing to resolve any outstanding technical matters swiftly.



During the talks, Lord Tariq Ahmad extended his congratulations to Foreign Minister Dar on his recent appointment and emphasized the UK’s intention to collaborate closely with Pakistan’s new government. Additionally, the discussions underscored Pakistan’s pivotal role in supporting the resettlement of Afghan nationals, a matter for which Minister Andrew Mitchell expressed his gratitude.



These meetings signify a mutual commitment to fortifying Pakistan-UK relations, focusing on strategic economic partnerships, and enhancing bilateral cooperation on key international issues.
