ISLAMABAD: A high-level defence delegation from Somalia, led by Defence Minister Ambassador Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, met with Pakistan’s Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf and Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu in Islamabad. During these meetings, both parties focused on bolstering defence ties and shared interests.
According to Radio Pakistan, discussions at the Naval Headquarters revolved around regional maritime security and bilateral defence collaboration. Admiral Naveed Ashraf reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening its defence relations with Somalia. At the Air Headquarters, the dialogue emphasized bilateral defence cooperation, professional collaboration, and capacity building. Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu underscored the Pakistan Air Force’s dedication to indigenous capability development and professional exchanges, promising support for cooperation with the Somali Air Force.
The Somali Defence Minister praised the Pakistan Navy’s role in regional maritime security and acknowledged the Pakistan Air Force’s professionalism and operational capabilities.
