ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have agreed to maintain close coordination to enhance peace and stability in the region. The consensus was reached during a meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan in Islamabad on Sunday.

According to Radio Pakistan, Prime Minister Sharif welcomed the Saudi Foreign Minister and conveyed his respect for King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and greetings for Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. The Prime Minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for Saudi Arabia and commended the Kingdom’s restraint during the ongoing crisis. He assured the Saudi Foreign Minister of Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity.

Prime Minister Sharif referenced his recent discussions with the Crown Prince, including their encounter in Jeddah on the 12th of this month. He highlighted Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts to mediate de-escalation, involving both the United States and Iran in negotiations. Emphasizing the leadership role of Saudi Arabia in the Muslim community, Sharif called for unity among Islamic countries.

The Saudi Foreign Minister expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister for the meeting and shared Saudi Arabia’s perspective on regional matters. Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, National Security Advisor Lieutenant General Muhammad Asim Malik, and Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi were present to support the Prime Minister during the discussions.
