Pakistan and Russia Discuss Strategic Stability in Annual Talks

Islamabad: In a detailed exchange on strategic stability, Pakistan and Russia convened the 15th round of the Consultative Group in Islamabad. Leading the discussions were Additional Foreign Secretary of Arms Control and Disarmament, Tahir Andrabi, and Russian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, S.A. Ryabkov.

The meeting focused on international security and stability, encompassing arms control, disarmament, and non-proliferation. Delegates also addressed issues related to the UN General Assembly’s first committee, the Conference on Disarmament, and several international agencies, including the International Atomic Energy Agency and the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons.

Key topics included space security, international information security, and emerging technologies, particularly the military applications of artificial intelligence. Both sides noted a shared perspective on these issues and agreed to sustain bilateral and international cooperation.

The talks concluded with an agreement to hold the next round of discussions in Moscow next year.
