ISLAMABAD: The 12th meeting of the Pakistan-Russia Joint Working Group to Counter International Terrorism was convened in Islamabad, focusing on regional security threats and counterterrorism collaboration.
According to Radio Pakistan, the meeting was led by Additional Secretary Ambassador Muhammad Khalid Khan Jamali from Pakistan and Russian Federation Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs Dmitry Lyubinsky. The dialogue concentrated on the regional terrorist threat, with a specific emphasis on terrorism emanating from Afghanistan and its potential impact on neighboring countries and broader regional security.
The discussions also evaluated the current state of bilateral cooperation in counterterrorism and explored opportunities for enhancing engagement at regional and international platforms, including the United Nations and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
