New York: Pakistan and Nepal have pledged to maintain contact and explore avenues for expanding bilateral cooperation, as Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar met with Nepalese Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal during the 81st Session of the UN General Assembly. The meeting, held on the sidelines of the assembly in New York, focused on enhancing diplomatic and economic ties between the two countries.

According to Radio Pakistan, Deputy Prime Minister Dar expressed condolences over the recent flash floods in Nepal, expressing solidarity with the Nepalese people during this challenging period. Foreign Minister Khanal thanked Pakistan for its support and provided an overview of the flood’s impact on Nepal’s people and infrastructure.

The discussions between the two leaders encompassed a review of existing bilateral relations and strategies to strengthen collaboration through established political and economic consultation mechanisms. Additionally, the meeting included an exchange of views on regional and global developments, emphasizing the importance of continued coordination at multilateral forums such as the United Nations and the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC).

Both officials reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining contact, with the aim of expanding cooperation in various sectors.
