Pakistan and Holy See Reaffirm Diplomatic Ties on 75th Anniversary

Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar hosted H.E. Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, Secretary for Relations with States of the Holy See, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Archbishop’s visit marks the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and the Holy See.

According to Press Information Department, the Deputy Prime Minister acknowledged the Holy See’s role in fostering peace, interfaith harmony, and dialogue. He also recognized the contributions of Pakistan’s Catholic community in areas such as education and health. Archbishop Gallagher praised Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace through mediation and diplomacy.

During the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister expressed appreciation for Pope Leo XIV’s calls for peace and a resolution to the Palestine conflict, reiterating Pakistan’s solidarity with the Palestinian people. Both leaders shared concerns over the ongoing humanitarian crisis and stressed the need for continued international efforts to promote peace in the region.

Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the relationship between Pakistan and the Holy See, emphasizing mutual respect and peaceful coexistence among faiths.
