Pakistan and GCC Near Agreement on FTA, Poised to Boost Regional Trade and Investment

Islamabad, 03 Dec 2023: Pakistan’s Minister for Commerce and Industries, Dr. Gohar Ejaz, is currently in Saudi Arabia to engage in critical talks aimed at bolstering trade and investment ties with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. The visit is focused on finalizing the investment-related aspects of the GCC Free Trade Agreement (FTA).

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Dr. Ejaz is leading a Pakistani delegation to advance negotiations on the FTA. The Minister expressed optimism about the progress, noting that finalizing the investment chapter of the agreement is a major stride in strengthening economic relations between Pakistan and the GCC.

The anticipated FTA with the GCC is expected to significantly enhance trade and investment opportunities between Pakistan and Gulf countries. The agreement is seen as a key driver for creating new jobs and opening up avenues for businesses in both regions, thereby fostering economic growth and collaboration.
