Islamabad: Pakistan and Egypt have pledged to enhance cooperation in various sectors, with a focus on boosting bilateral trade and investment. This commitment was made during a meeting between Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, and Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, held in Islamabad.

According to Radio Pakistan, both leaders reviewed the comprehensive range of bilateral relations and noted the positive momentum following recent high-level exchanges, including the Egyptian Foreign Minister’s visit to Pakistan in November 2025. They emphasized the importance of activating bilateral mechanisms, such as the Joint Ministerial Commission, and fostering business-to-business connections.

Deputy Prime Minister Dar acknowledged Egypt’s support in the health sector, particularly in combating hepatitis C, and welcomed ongoing collaboration. The two sides expressed satisfaction with the current trajectory of defense and security cooperation and agreed to enhance collaboration through training exchanges and other institutional mechanisms.

The meeting also included discussions on regional and international developments, focusing on the Middle East situation. Both sides stressed the need for restraint, de-escalation, and resolving disputes through dialogue and diplomacy. Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for the Palestinian people and condemned Israeli actions in Gaza and the West Bank. He highlighted Egypt’s role in facilitating humanitarian assistance to Gaza, including aiding Pakistan’s relief efforts.

The leaders agreed to maintain close coordination at multilateral forums, including the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). This meeting, part of ongoing high-level contacts, underscores the shared commitment of Pakistan and Egypt to deepen their relations and address regional developments collaboratively.
