Islamabad: In a significant move towards environmental sustainability, Pakistan and Denmark have agreed to collaborate on initiatives aimed at facilitating Pakistan’s transition to green energy and enhancing climate resilience.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Danish Ambassador Jakob Linulf and Romina Khurshid Alam, the Prime Minister’s Coordinator on Climate Change, held a meeting in Islamabad where they outlined a framework for bilateral cooperation. The discussion centered on various environmental issues, with a particular focus on green energy, climate resilience, water conservation, and biodiversity protection.
During the meeting, Alam highlighted Pakistan’s ongoing efforts in global climate action, noting the country’s participation in international initiatives designed to protect oceans, biodiversity, and water and energy resources. She underscored the importance of these initiatives in contributing to sustainable development and reducing environmental vulnerability.
Both parties recognized the critical need for joint advocacy to secure equitable climate financing for developing nations disproportionately affected by climate-related disasters like floods and heatwaves. This cooperation aims to bolster Pakistan’s capacity to implement effective climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies.
The partnership between Pakistan and Denmark represents a proactive approach to tackling global environmental challenges, reinforcing both nations’ commitment to sustainability and the well-being of future generations.
