BEIJING: Pakistan and China have jointly proposed a five-point initiative aimed at restoring peace and stability in the Gulf and Middle East, following a high-level meeting between Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. The initiative underscores an urgent cessation of hostilities, humanitarian relief access, and the protection of national sovereignty and security.

According to Radio Pakistan, the two countries emphasized that dialogue and diplomacy are the only viable means for conflict resolution, urging relevant parties to engage in peace talks and commit to a peaceful resolution of disputes. Both nations called for an immediate halt to attacks on civilian and nonmilitary targets and highlighted the importance of adhering to International Humanitarian Law.

The initiative also addresses the security of critical infrastructure and shipping lanes. China and Pakistan urged parties in the conflict to ensure the safety of ships and crew in the Strait of Hormuz and to facilitate the resumption of normal maritime passage. Additionally, the two sides advocated for true multilateralism and reinforced the significance of the United Nations in achieving lasting peace in the region.
