Pakistan and China Enter New Phase of Cooperation in IT and Telecom


Islamabad: Minister of State for IT, Shaza Fatima, announced a new phase of cooperation between Pakistan and China in the IT and Telecom sectors during her address at the EuroAsia Digital Economy Forum in Beijing.



According to Press Information Department, Fatima described the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) as a cornerstone of the longstanding partnership between the two nations, emphasizing its role in fostering economic growth and technological advancement. The Minister outlined the integration of digital technologies as crucial for the future of CPEC and detailed initiatives to involve the private sector in these efforts.



She highlighted the creation of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) to ensure security and facilitation for investments. Fatima also spoke about the potential for collaborative ventures in digital innovation, which could leverage China’s technological expertise and Pakistan’s growing IT and Telecom industry. This partnership aims to foster innovation, support startups, and promote digital literacy and infrastructure development aligned with CPEC’s goals.
