Pakistan and Belarus Seek to Strengthen Parliamentary Ties Through Enhanced Engagement


ISLAMABAD: The Convener of the Pakistan-Belarus Parliamentary Friendship Group, Ms. Natasha Daultana, Member of the National Assembly, held a meeting with the Ambassador of Belarus to Pakistan, Mr. Andrei N. Metelitsa, at the Belarusian Embassy in Islamabad. The meeting focused on reinforcing parliamentary diplomacy and collaboration between the two nations.



According to National Assembly of Pakistan, Ms. Daultana emphasized the importance of Parliamentary Friendship Groups in fostering cooperation between the legislatures of Pakistan and Belarus. She invited Ambassador Metelitsa to visit the National Assembly of Pakistan to engage with members of the Pakistan-Belarus Parliamentary Friendship Group. This visit aims to facilitate a virtual meeting with their counterparts in the Belarusian Parliament.



Ambassador Metelitsa acknowledged the initiative, highlighting the positive diplomatic relations between the two countries. He referenced recent high-level visits, including the Belarusian Prime Minister’s participation in the SCO Summit in 2024, the Belarusian President’s visit to Pakistan, and the Pakistani National Assembly Speaker’s visit to Belarus with a parliamentary delegation.



Both parties expressed their commitment to enhancing bilateral ties through sustained parliamentary cooperation and engagement.
