Baku: Pakistan and Azerbaijan have reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation in law, justice, and judicial reform during a meeting between H.E. Barrister Aqeel Malik, Pakistan’s Minister of State for Law and Justice, and H.E. Mr. Farid Ahmadov, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Justice, in Baku.

According to Press Information Department, the meeting took place alongside the Executive Judicial Training Programme, “The Judicial Craft,” under the existing Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) between the two countries’ justice ministries. The Pakistani delegation included Ambassador Qasim Mohiuddin, Ms. Aisha Rasool, and Mr. Ehsan Ullah Khan, while the Azerbaijani delegation featured senior officials such as Mr. Adil Abilov and Mr. Rovshan Ismayilov.

Minister Ahmadov welcomed the Pakistani delegation, emphasizing the strong friendship and strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Pakistan, and expressed Azerbaijan’s commitment to expanding collaboration in areas of mutual interest. Barrister Malik reaffirmed Pakistan’s dedication to translating this partnership into practical cooperation.

The Ministers reviewed progress under the MoC, expressing satisfaction with the rapid evolution from understanding to tangible collaboration, exemplified by recent programs in Islamabad and Baku. Discussions included further strengthening judicial education, capacity building, legal research, legislative development, and the promotion of alternative dispute resolution.

Both sides acknowledged the significance of technology in justice delivery, discussing digital justice initiatives and the responsible use of emerging technologies to enhance efficiency and public confidence in justice systems. The meeting concluded with a shared resolve to continue implementing the MoC through regular engagement, joint programs, and high-level exchanges.
