Pakistan Ambassador Highlights Commitment to Peace and Prosperity in U.S. National Day Reception

Islamabad, During a recent National Day reception at the Embassy of Pakistan in Washington, Ambassador Masood Khan underscored Pakistan’s dedication to fostering peaceful relations and advancing bilateral ties with the United States, reflecting on the historical roots and future aspirations of Pakistan-U.S. relations.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Ambassador Khan reminisced about the Lahore Resolution passed 84 years ago, which laid the groundwork for Pakistan’s independence. He honored the legacy of Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah and expressed gratitude towards the State Department for its role in enhancing Pakistan-U.S. relations. Highlighting areas of collaboration such as trade, investment, green energy, healthcare, education, and science and technology, he emphasized the mutual benefits of a strengthened partnership.

In his address, Ambassador Khan reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace and the importance of self-determination for the people of Jammu and Kashmir in accordance with UN resolutions. The event also saw the conferring of national awards to two Pakistani Americans, Nasruddin Rupani and Hafeez Khan, acknowledging their contributions.

From the U.S. side, USAID Assistant Administrator for Asia, Michael Schiffer, acknowledged the shared cultural heritage and aspirations of both nations. He outlined key areas of cooperation, including hydropower development, technological access expansion, and education enhancement, under the Green Alliance Framework. Schiffer also highlighted the significant role of the Pakistani American diaspora and USAID’s efforts in mobilizing substantial funds for various initiatives, signifying a robust and dynamic partnership aimed at mutual prosperity.

This event marks a reaffirmation of the longstanding friendship and collaborative spirit between Pakistan and the United States, showcasing a united front towards tackling contemporary challenges and seizing future opportunities.
