Islamabad: Chairman of the Senate, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, has affirmed Pakistan’s dedication to enhancing its bilateral relationship with Sweden, emphasizing mutual respect, shared values, and common goals. This commitment was expressed during a meeting with Swedish Ambassador Alexandra Berg von Linde in Islamabad.
According to a statement by Senate of Pakistan, the meeting was marked by a warm welcome from Chairman Gilani, who underscored the importance of the longstanding relations between Pakistan and Sweden. This year marks the 75th anniversary of their diplomatic relations, highlighting the resilience and strength of this partnership.
Chairman Gilani expressed a desire to deepen cooperation in various areas, including inter-parliamentary collaboration, trade, and addressing global issues such as Islamophobia. He highlighted the significance of enhancing political dialogue, trade and investment, education, and people-to-people exchanges.
During the meeting, the importance of strengthening inter-parliamentary relations was a focal point. Chairman Gilani noted that parliamentary diplomacy could aid in building understanding, sharing best practices, and contributing to global peace and security.
He further advocated for the exchange of parliamentary delegations to facilitate collaboration across diverse sectors. The Senate Chairman also extended an invitation to Swedish companies to explore investment opportunities in Pakistan’s business-friendly environment.
