New York: At the United Nations, Pakistan has called for structural reforms to ensure justice systems provide effective protection and solutions for women and girls. Senator Bushra Anjum Butt emphasized that gender equality is compromised when women are unable to access justice.

According to Radio Pakistan, Senator Anjum Butt made these comments during the General Debate of the 70th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women at the UN headquarters. The session focused on strengthening access to justice for women and girls. Leading Pakistan’s delegation, Senator Anjum Butt urged the global community to transform commitments into institutional actions, ensuring that justice is accessible to all women and girls without discrimination.

Senator Anjum Butt highlighted Pakistan’s efforts, noting that access to justice is supported by constitutional guarantees of equality, dignity, and due process. She pointed out that Pakistan has over 480 specialized anti-gender-based violence courts, complemented by legal aid, family courts, ombudsperson mechanisms, and laws designed to protect women’s rights. These integrated protection services aim to deliver timely justice for women and girls across the country.
