Washington: Pakistan’s Finance Minister, Muhammad Aurangzeb, has expressed gratitude towards China for its ongoing support at the International Monetary Fund (IMF). During discussions with Dr. Pan Gongsheng, President of the People’s Bank of China, at the World Bank-IMF Spring Meetings 2026, Aurangzeb highlighted the collaborative efforts between the two countries in financial matters.
According to Radio Pakistan, Aurangzeb informed Dr. Pan about Pakistan’s recent success in concluding a Staff-Level Agreement with the IMF for the third review under the Extended Fund Facility. He also mentioned that the approval for the second review under the Resilience and Sustainability Facility is anticipated soon from the IMF Executive Board.
The Finance Minister discussed Pakistan’s upcoming plans to issue its inaugural Panda bond and requested that the National Association of Financial Market Institutional Investors expedite its approval process. In response, Dr. Pan extended an invitation for Aurangzeb to visit Beijing in the near future, further strengthening the ties between the two nations.
