New Delhi: All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) President and Member of Parliament Asaduddin Owaisi has criticized the Waqf Amendment Act introduced by the Narendra Modi government, describing it as detrimental to Muslim interests and unconstitutional.

According to a report by Kashmir Media Service, Owaisi stated that the new law would enable encroachers to become owners of Waqf properties. He argued that instead of safeguarding these properties, the legislation paves the way for their appropriation.

Owaisi highlighted that mosques in Sambhal, Gyanvapi, and Mathura are no longer under the jurisdiction of the Waqf Board. He accused the government of reducing the Waqf Board to a powerless entity, labeling it as a ‘post office.’

He asserted that the amendment represents an infringement on the fundamental rights of Muslims and called for the immediate withdrawal of the law.
