OIC Secretary-General Commends Pakistan’s Role in Supporting Palestinian Cause


Jeddah: The Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, has lauded Pakistan for its ongoing support of the Palestinian cause. His remarks came during a meeting with Professor Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary, Coordinator-General of OIC-COMSTECH Pakistan, at the OIC General Secretariat in Jeddah.



According to Radio Pakistan, the discussion between the two officials focused on enhancing scientific, technological, academic, and healthcare cooperation among OIC member states. The OIC Secretary-General expressed his appreciation for Dr. Choudhary’s diplomatic and international experience, and he voiced his confidence in the leadership’s potential to enhance the effectiveness of the OIC General Secretariat in serving the Muslim Ummah.



During the meeting, Dr. Choudhary briefed the Secretary-General on COMSTECH’s current and future initiatives in science, technology, higher education, healthcare, and artificial intelligence. The OIC Secretary-General specifically praised COMSTECH’s offer to allocate five thousand fellowships and scholarships for Palestinian students and scholars. He also mentioned his intention to meet Palestinian scholars, medical students, and biomedical researchers during his forthcoming visit to Pakistan.



The OIC Secretary-General highlighted the importance of not only using artificial intelligence technologies but also developing and innovating within the field. He emphasized the strategic importance of science, technology, and innovation for the Muslim world and stated his plans to discuss further support for these areas with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the Co-Chairman of COMSTECH during his visit to Pakistan.
