KARACHI: The Oil Companies Advisory Council (OCAC) has extended its thanks to Mayor Karachi, Barrister Murtaza Wahab, for addressing significant issues at the Keamari Oil Installation Area (KOIA). The acknowledgment was conveyed in a letter from Dr. Syed Nazir Ali Zaidi, Secretary General of OCAC, highlighting the mayor’s leadership in initiating crucial repair and restoration work and improving operational safety and efficiency.
According to a statement by Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, the OCAC appreciated the mayor’s efforts in collaborating with refineries and Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) to address longstanding Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) dues. This collaboration led to the reconciliation of financial ledgers over nearly twenty years, resulting in payments amounting to approximately Rs. 482 million toward Municipal Utility Tax Charges (MUCT).
The letter also included an invitation for Mayor Wahab to visit the OCAC office. The visit aims to facilitate discussions on enhancing collaboration between KMC, OCAC, and its member companies for the ongoing development of infrastructure in the oil and gas sector. The OCAC emphasized the importance of continued focus and investment in KOIA as a strategic hub in Karachi.
