Islamabad, The National Security Committee (NSC) of Pakistan, in a recent meeting, has emphasized its unwavering commitment to the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, asserting that any attempts to breach it will be met with the state’s full might.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the NSC meeting, chaired by Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar ul Haq Kakar in Islamabad, underscored the paramount importance of the security and safety of the Pakistani people. The committee reviewed the current situation, particularly the professional and measured response of the Armed Forces to the recent unprovoked violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty.
Participants were briefed on the political and diplomatic developments concerning the Pakistan-Iran situation and its implications for regional security. The NSC took stock of ‘Operation Marg Bar Sarmachar,’ a successful mission against Pakistani-origin Baloch terrorists in Iran’s ungoverned spaces.
The forum also discussed border situations and preparedness to respond comprehensively to any further violations of national sovereignty. Emphasizing the need for mutual communication with Iran to address security concerns, the NSC expressed hope for resolving issues through dialogue and diplomacy, in line with the principles of good neighborly relations.
The NSC reiterated its stance on upholding the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries per the UN charter and international norms. It also reaffirmed its resolve to combat terrorism in all forms and highlighted Pakistan’s significant sacrifices in this fight.
The meeting concluded with optimism about overcoming minor disputes with Iran through diplomatic channels, aiming to deepen historic relations. The meeting was attended by the Caretaker Ministers for Defence, Foreign Affairs, Finance, Information, the Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, military chiefs, and heads of intelligence agencies.
