Islamabad: The National Highways and Motorway Police has announced a ban on the entry of vehicles carrying animals on motorways in light of the upcoming Eid-ul-Adha. This measure aims to prevent accidents and ensure the safety of travelers during the festive period.
According to Radio Pakistan, the decision comes after several hazardous incidents in the past involving animal-laden vehicles, which have resulted in significant human and financial losses. The spokesperson of the Motorway Police cited that overloaded and inadequately managed transport units are major contributors to accidents and traffic congestion.
The spokesperson further stated that vehicles transporting animals will be redirected to alternative routes as part of this safety initiative. Additionally, authorities in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have been requested to establish check posts near motorway entry points and livestock markets to enforce the new regulations.
