Islamabad: The newly commissioned Pakistan Navy Ship (PNS) Yamama has completed a significant visit to Turkiye, engaging in strategic naval exercises and fostering bilateral relations. The ship, on its maiden voyage from Romania to Pakistan, made stops at Golcuk and Aksaz Naval Bases and participated in the Turkish Navy Exercise Mavi Vatan-2025.
According to a statement by Pakistan Navy, PNS Yamama’s visit was aimed at reinforcing the brotherly relations and commitment to broadening defense ties with Turkiye. The visit included various professional and social activities, such as leadership meetings and tours of Turkish naval facilities. Vice Admiral Ibrahim Ozden Kocer, Deputy Commander of the Turkish Naval Fleet, also visited the ship to receive a briefing on its capabilities.
The highlight of the visit was PNS Yamama’s participation in Exercise Mavi Vatan-2025, where it was the sole foreign unit alongside Turkish naval ships. This participation underscores the enduring collaboration and mutual respect between the naval forces of Pakistan and Turkiye.
PNS Yamama is the final vessel in a series of four Offshore Patrol Vessels constructed for the Pakistan Navy by DAMEN Shipyards in Galati, Romania. These vessels are engineered to operate in contested maritime environments, equipped to project deterrence across various domains of warfare.
