NA Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs meets

Islamabad, January 27, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs met in Parliament House, Islamabad this Morning under the Chairmanship of Malik Muhammad Ehsan Ullah Tiwana, MNA/ Chairman. The Committee highly appreciated the New National Security Policy of Pakistan and stressed upon the need to strengthen the monitoring system for its proper implementation. The Committee directed that the Federal Government may develop proper liaison with the Provincial Government to bring its benefits at gross root level.

The Committee also appreciated the Foreign Policy of Pakistan, especially organizing the 17th Extra Ordinary Meeting of the OIC of Foreign Ministers in Islamabad which able to convenience 57 Islamic countries and the rest of the world to know the narrative of Afghan Taliban to run the government affairs and problems being faced by them in this regard. Consequently, different countries started to provide assistance to Afghanis and urged upon the need to de-freeze the Afghan reserves so that they could resolve their issues amicably.

Earlier, the Special Assistant to Prime Minister on National Security apprised the Committee that the first formal National Security Policy of Pakistan had been formulated in consultation with all stakeholders and efforts made by them to ensure its implementation with the collaboration of all provinces. The Representative of Foreign Affairs also briefly apprised the Committee about the outcome of OIC meeting of Foreign Ministers held in Islamabad and its worldwide impacts.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Muhammad Ameer Sultan, MNA, Ms. Munaza Hassan, MNA, Dr. Ramesh Kumar Vankwani, MNA, Mr. Jamshed Thomas, MNA, Mr. Muhammad Khan Daha, MNA, Ms. Zahra Wadood Fatemi, MNA, Ms. Maiza Hameed, MNA, Mr. Abdul Shakoor, MNA and Makhdoom Zain Hussain Qureshi, MNA through video link and officials of M/o Foreign Affairs and M/o Energy (Petroleum Division).
