Islamabad: Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has commended the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for its unprecedented recovery of Rs. 6.213 trillion, highlighting the organization’s transformation into a public- and business-friendly entity following comprehensive institutional reforms. According to National Assembly of Pakistan, the Speaker made these remarks during a meeting with NAB Chairman Nazir Ahmed, who presented the Bureau’s Annual Report 2025 at Parliament House.

Speaker Sadiq attributed the record-breaking recovery to the leadership of Chairman Nazir Ahmed. Under his guidance, NAB achieved its highest annual recovery since its establishment in 1999. The Speaker highlighted NAB’s cumulative recoveries of Rs. 11.524 trillion over the past three years, with the 2025 recovery alone accounting for more than half of this amount and being thirteen times higher than the total recoveries from the preceding 23 years.

The Speaker also noted NAB’s 72 percent prosecution success rate as a significant indicator of its institutional effectiveness. He emphasized NAB’s achievements in reclaiming approximately 2.98 million acres of encroached or misappropriated land, valued at Rs. 5.98 trillion. Additionally, he acknowledged NAB’s efforts in providing relief to 115,587 victims of fraudulent schemes through the distribution of Rs. 180 billion, and its focus on tackling complex financial crimes, which resulted in the attachment of assets worth Rs. 127 billion in 39 high-profile anti-money laundering cases.

Chairman NAB Nazir Ahmed briefed the Speaker on the major institutional reforms aimed at enhancing transparency, fairness, and inclusivity, including the establishment of specialized Facilitation Cells and the introduction of AI-assisted investigations. He also mentioned the Bureau’s transition to a paperless working environment through the NAB E-Office (NEO) system implemented in 2025.

Chairman Ahmed expressed gratitude to Speaker Sadiq for his support and acknowledged the constructive role of Parliament in the fight against corruption.
