Ministry of Defence Production Engages Private Sector on Drone Technology

Islamabad: An interactive session was held today by the Ministry of Defence Production on drone technology, at its Directorate General Research and Development Establishment, Rawalpindi with leading private-sector firms engaged in the manufacturing and development of unmanned aerial systems (UAS). The session was chaired by Secretary Defence Production, Lt Gen (Retd) Muhammad Chiragh Haider. The session was focused on strengthening coordination between the public and private sectors in the rapidly evolving field of drone warfare and surveillance technologies.

According to Press Information Department, the participants observed that recent global conflicts have clearly demonstrated the decisive role of drones in modern warfare, intelligence gathering, border monitoring, and precision operations. Participating companies presented their concerns, operational challenges, and recommendations directly before the Ministry of Defence Production. Secretary Defence Production assured participants that their useful recommendations would be included for future policy formulation aimed at promoting a sustainable domestic drone ecosystem. The Ministry is also committed to provide regulatory procedures, testing infrastructure, procurement mechanisms, and research support.

The session concluded with a shared commitment to enhance cooperation between state institutions and private technology firms to accelerate the development of locally produced unmanned aerial capabilities in line with emerging security requirements as it has become a national priority for Pakistan.
