Minister Tarar Urges Swift Action on Vehicular Emissions to Combat Smog

Islamabad: Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazeer Tarar has called for the implementation of strict policies to reduce vehicular emissions, highlighting the growing concern of smog as a significant environmental and health issue.

According to a statement by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Tarar chaired the 10th meeting of the National Climate Change Policy Implementation Committee in Islamabad, where he emphasized the importance of adhering to Euro-5 or higher standards to improve air quality and address the recurring smog problem.

The committee was briefed on ongoing efforts to transition to renewable energy, with substantial investments in solar, wind, and hydropower projects. The government’s initiative to achieve a 30 percent share of renewables in the energy mix by 2030 is progressing as planned, with a strong push towards promoting Electric Vehicles to lessen the environmental impact of transportation.
