Lahore: The Minister for Local Government, Zeeshan Rafique, conducted a review meeting on the Punjab Development Program (PDP), assessing the progress of various development schemes in 51 cities. The meeting, attended by Secretary Local Government Zaid Bin Maqsood and Special Secretary Shahid Zaman Lak, highlighted the state’s efforts to enhance urban infrastructure and aesthetics.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, Minister Rafique expressed satisfaction with the distribution of dewatering sets to 22 cities and emphasized that the PDP extends beyond mere construction projects. He stated that the initiative aims to beautify cities and provide them with a new appearance. The minister also mentioned that modern machinery, including de-silting units and suction machines, has been allocated to the cities involved in the PDP. He urged stakeholders to adhere to master plans and prioritize cost-saving measures where feasible.
Minister Rafique further stressed the importance of timely completion of projects, such as water tanks and drainage systems. He directed Municipal Officers and Assistant Project Directors to ensure adherence to project timelines. The minister noted that any savings from the schemes would be reinvested in the PDP to further its goals.
