Minister Emphasizes Seed Quality in Push for Green Agriculture Reforms

Islamabad: The Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research, Rana Tanveer Hussain, convened a significant meeting with private seed manufacturers, reiterating the government’s pledge to advance Green Agriculture Reforms. This initiative aligns with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif’s vision to bolster agricultural productivity by ensuring farmers have access to quality, registered seeds.

Rana Tanveer Hussain underscored the pivotal role of the National Regulatory Authority and the Punjab Agriculture Department field inspectors in monitoring seed quality nationwide. He highlighted the crucial importance of addressing the needs of small farmers, who account for 95% of Pakistan’s farming community, emphasizing that their challenges remain a government priority.

In efforts to maintain seed quality, companies producing substandard seeds have been banned. A special committee has been established to address complaints and facilitate resolutions. The Ministry of National Food Security and Research is fully engaged in promoting farmer welfare and sustainable agricultural practices under the leadership of Prime Minister Sharif.
