Minister Chairs Meeting with Mango Exporters to Enhance Global Presence


Islamabad: Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research, Rana Tanveer Hussain, convened a meeting with leading mango exporters to evaluate export performance and address global challenges facing Pakistan’s mango exports. The discussion aimed at crafting strategies to strengthen the sector’s international market presence.



According to Press Information Department, the meeting included senior ministry officials and stakeholders from the horticulture and logistics sectors. Discussions centered on the impact of geopolitical issues, increased transport costs, and changing trade routes on mango exports. Exporters noted that disruptions, such as the Afghanistan border closure and instability in the Middle East, have affected established trade paths.



The Minister acknowledged these challenges, emphasizing the importance of the mango sector to Pakistan’s economy, and underscored the government’s commitment to supporting exporters with potential transport subsidies and other relief measures. He urged a shift towards value addition and branding to enhance competitiveness and explore new markets in East Asia, Central Asia, and Europe.



Hussain assured that a coordinated framework involving various governmental departments would be developed to facilitate export processes, stressing that mango exports are vital for economic stability and must be strategically leveraged.
