ISLAMABAD: A meeting chaired by Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal in Islamabad has reviewed the progress of several development projects, focusing on ensuring adherence to quality standards and addressing delays.

According to Radio Pakistan, the meeting held detailed discussions on the Kachhi Canal Phase-II project, land issues concerning the Pakistan Institute of Development Economics (PIDE), and the development of the Allama Iqbal Memorial and Iqbal Library. Minister Iqbal highlighted the need for the Kachhi Canal project to maintain high construction quality and urged collaboration with the Government of Balochistan for effective project advancement.

The meeting also addressed delays in the 35-kilometre road project connecting Loralai and Zhob, with measures considered for timely completion in line with the Prime Minister’s directives. Concerns were raised about the Capital Development Authority’s (CDA) delay in providing land to PIDE, prompting Minister Iqbal to demand an immediate response from the CDA.

Additionally, the development of the Allama Iqbal Memorial and Iqbal Library was emphasized, with directives for the library to meet international standards and serve as a model for others. Minister Iqbal encouraged prompt initiation of work on the library, designating the upcoming year as the Year of Allama Iqbal, and instructed the CDA to expedite the necessary procedures.
