Minister Abdul Aleem Khan Outlines Government’s Privatization Strategy


Islamabad: The Federal Minister for Privatization, Abdul Aleem Khan, hosted a briefing session with senior journalists to elucidate the government’s privatization policies and strategies.



According to Press Information Department, during the session held at the Privatization Division, journalists were briefed on the current status and future plans for privatizing several significant entities, including PIACL, Roosevelt Hotel, HBFC, and the First Women Bank. Minister Khan emphasized the government’s commitment to transparency, announcing that all privatization bids would be telecast live.



He highlighted the potential profitability of the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) with proper investment and praised the professionalism of its pilots. The session also covered the government’s resolution to privatize various electricity distribution companies (DISCOs), with plans to offer some for long-term concessions and others for complete sale. The forthcoming steps will be taken in consultation with the Power Division to ensure strategic alignment and efficiency.
