Islamabad: Ms. Michelle Bachelet, a candidate for the position of the United Nations Secretary General, met with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif at the Prime Minister House in Islamabad. The meeting was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sen. Muhammad Ishaq Dar and Foreign Secretary Amb. Amna Baloch. The discussions focused on the importance of multilateralism and the central role of the United Nations in addressing global issues.
According to Press Information Department, Prime Minister Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening multilateralism and emphasized the significance of upholding the purposes and principles of the UN Charter. He stressed the importance of implementing UN resolutions and international treaties, and advocated for balanced progress in the areas of peace and security, development, and human rights. Additionally, the Prime Minister called for enhanced international cooperation and a greater focus on advancing the global development agenda.
Ms. Bachelet acknowledged Pakistan’s contributions to the United Nations and appreciated the country’s efforts towards regional and international peace and security.
