Mehbooba Mufti Calls on Indian Government to Address Concerns in Jammu and Kashmir

Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti has urged the Indian government to address the concerns of the people instead of calling the silence in the area “peaceful conditions.”

According to a statement by Kashmir Media Service, Mehbooba Mufti, while interacting with public delegations in Srinagar, expressed serious concern over the challenges and problems faced by the people. She said promises of development and employment generation were made here but nothing has changed so far.

She criticized the decisions taken by the Modi regime in August 2019, labeling them as unconstitutional and undemocratic. Mufti also expressed concern over the dismissal of government employees and urged Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to challenge the decisions taken in the Indian Parliament regarding the special status of Jammu and Kashmir.

Mehbooba emphasized that the silence of the people should not be interpreted as contentment with the current situation in occupied Jammu and Kashmir. She stated that the wounds inflicted over the years need healing through understanding and dialogue.

The PDP chief also expressed concern over the plight of Kashmiris lodged in Indian jails and demanded their transfer to jails in the occupied territory, facilitating easier access for their families to meet them.
