Karachi: Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab has underscored the importance of democratic values and public service as the cornerstone of effective governance, asserting that addressing the issues faced by the people of Pakistan necessitates practical actions rather than empty rhetoric. According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, Wahab highlighted the constitutional right of individuals to express their views and emphasized that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) is dedicated to resolving the challenges confronting the nation.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Wahab praised PPP’s leadership, particularly Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, for their consistent efforts in both national and international arenas. He commended Bhutto Zardari for advocating Pakistan’s case with confidence and spotlighting the severe impact of climate change on the country’s agricultural economy to the global community. Wahab cited the initiative to construct 2.1 million housing units as a testament to PPP’s commitment to public service.

Wahab further noted that the PPP has a long-standing tradition of highlighting issues from every region of the country, including Gilgit-Baltistan, and has consistently championed the constitutional, democratic, and economic rights of the populace. He criticized politicians who only engage with the public during election campaigns and lauded Bhutto Zardari for maintaining a continuous presence among the people and standing by them in challenging times.

Emphasizing the importance of political awareness and informed decision-making, Wahab called for citizens to prioritize the country’s and the nation’s best interests. He concluded by reaffirming PPP’s dedication to serving the public and promoting democratic stability, highlighting that the party’s politics are intrinsically linked to public service, the empowerment of youth, and the protection of citizens’ rights.
