Jammu: Massive protests have erupted in the Doda district of Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir following the upload of blasphemous content on social media by a Hindutva activist, according to Kashmir Media Service. Large-scale demonstrations unfolded in Bhaderwah and Doda city, where protestors voiced demands for severe punishment against a local official accused of disrespecting the Holy Quran.

In the wake of the protests, the local administration imposed a blackout on mobile and internet services. Demonstrators, voicing support for Islam and the Quran, called for stringent action against the individual responsible for the content.

The protests also saw a shutter-down strike by Muslims in Bhaderwah, expressing their discontent over the incident. The situation remains tense, with Indian forces deployed heavily across the affected areas.

The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter has condemned the incident. APHC-AJK Secretary Information Mushtaq Ahmed Butt criticized the act, linking it to what he described as ongoing anti-Muslim policies by India’s government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Butt emphasized that such incidents harm religious sentiments and are deliberate attempts to disrupt religious harmony in the disputed territory.
