Malaysia Supports Peaceful Resolution to Kashmir Dispute, Says Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim

Islamabad: During a significant bilateral meeting on Thursday, the prime ministers of Pakistan and Malaysia, Shehbaz Sharif and Anwar Ibrahim, respectively, underscored their commitment to regional peace, particularly regarding the Kashmir dispute. The leaders convened to strengthen ties and discuss pressing regional and international issues including the situations in Gaza and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the discussions were part of a broader agenda that included enhancing bilateral collaboration across various sectors. Prime Minister Sharif highlighted the longstanding grievances of the Kashmiri people, pointing to decades of denied self-determination rights, widespread detentions, and severe punishments. He expressed hope for a resolution that aligns with United Nations Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri populace.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim emphasized Malaysia’s stance on Kashmir, reaffirming a commitment to the UN resolutions and advocating for a peaceful and amicable solution to the dispute. The meeting underscored both nations’ dedication to addressing global conflicts through dialogue and cooperation.
